"My sister and I met with the providers to discuss services for my 86 year old father. A thorough explanation and tour was provided to us: What services were provided at no additional costs, what services were at additional costs, what we could expect from staff, visitation rules and etiquette, how to best make the transition smooth and comfortable for our father, etc.
The meeting was quite detailed. We weren't rushed at all. We sat down at the dining room table and we asked many questions and received detailed responses. The providers detailed their backgrounds and experiences in provided board and care services. We were introduced to the staff, all of whom were quite pleasant, and we were introduced to other clients. We were taken outside to tour the backyard and its amenities. It was a very warm and empathetic appointment. We left feeling quite assured that our father would receive loving care. We also left with references to check out on our own. We chose Coastal House for our Dad. It has continued to be a very pleasant experience for us and our father. His health has improved in so many ways.

"I was viewing Board and Care facilities for elderly people with Alzheimer's/Dementia.
The visit went VERY well. The administrators were communicative and friendly. I was able to see some of their caregivers in action and I was impressed with their attention to the residents. During the visit, which was to find a suitable facility for my mother, I found my emotions about the situation were overwhelming me and the Administrators, Claudia and Alicia, both went into 'caregiver mode' with me and helped me regain my composure. The atmosphere of their Board and Care Home was like a home vs an institution. They were highly recommended by a placement agency and both Claudia and Alicia have CNA and Nursing background as well. I have viewed 5 locations and chose Coastal House.
The atmosphere is very much a family one, Coastal House is a family business and they treat residents and their family as part of their own. In terms of care provided; top notch! Mother is treated like gold and since being there and becoming acclimated has achieved a long overdue weight loss and is maintaining a good disposition. Also, when motherarrived she was wheelchair bound, refused to do anything about regaining walking skills and doing physical therapy. With encouragement from the staff she is now learning to walk with a walker and loves not needing to be transferred via crane. Also she has become willing to participate in physical therapy.
In summary, if I ever find myself in need of residing in a Board & Care I do hope Coastal House is still in business with the current ownership."
